The Coalition for Colorado’s New Energy Future, an alliance of agricultural, labor unions, and conservation groups, released a poll Thursday indicating that Colorado residents support the use of more clean energy.  The Coalition is focused on working to "reduce our dependence on foreign oil, reinvigorate our economy, create good new jobs, protect consumers, and protect our environment by investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency."

According to the poll,

  • 79 percent support increasing the use of renewable energy to 20 percent by 2015.
  • 81 percent support creating incentives for utility companies to reduce electricity and natural gas use 10 percent by 2015 through an energy-efficiency program.
  • 74 percent support establishing a renewable fuels standard, by which 10 percent of transportation fuels comes from renewable fuels, such as biodiesel and cellulosic ethanol, by 2015.
