Supply Side Economics: Transforming Carbon Emissions Into Useful Products

The world economy might be in recession, however, carbon emissions are at an all time high. According to a new analysis by the nonprofit and nonpartisan Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) of data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) U.S. power plant CO2 emissions jumped 2.9 percent in 2007, the biggest single-year increase since 1998. More than ever, companies need to commit to taking steps against global warming.

The $700 billion bailout package recently issued by the U.S. government favors supply-side economics. The bailout package included tax credits for renewable energy industries most notably for wind and solar energy manufacturers. The general view is however that larger utilities will benefit as opposed to smaller renewable energy players that remain dependent upon project financing.

Supply-side economics tells us that production (supply) underlies consumption and living standards. In the long run, our income levels reflect our ability to produce goods and services that people value. Some companies such as Carbon Sciences are working on enabling industries to take action against climate change by creating green products to feed into the supply chain.

Transforming, CO2 Into Green Carbon Products

Carbon Sciences, Inc. has developed an innovative technology to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) – which is implicated in the issue of global warming – into a number of commercially useful, earth-friendly carbon products. The company calls this technology advance: GreenCarbon Technology. The aim is to extract value from carbon emissions by transforming the gas into a product that holds commercial value.

The company has developed two high value products thus far:

GreenCarbonate

The company’s patent-pending, working technology converts CO2 into a usable form of carbonate, known as precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). This product – made from ubiquitous CO2 – has extensive commercial uses, including agriculture, the manufacture of paper, coatings, plastics, glass, ceramics, chalk, dental care, cosmetic products, construction and architectural applications and as a natural buffer used in pollution filters.

Green Fuel

The company has also developed a breakthrough technology to transform CO2 into the basic fuel building blocks required to produce gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other portable fuels. This technology can be used to transform CO2 from fossil fuel power plants into gasoline to run cars and jet fuel to fly aircraft.

About Carbon Sciences, Inc.

Carbon Sciences, Inc. is a public company trading on the NASDAQ Over-the-counter Bulletin Board market (the OTCBB). The trading symbol for Carbon Sciences is “CABN” or “CABN.OB”. GreenCarbon and GreenCarbonate are registered trademarks owned by the company.
