Can Lack of Environmental Certification Hurt You?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inspiredeconom.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/No_uploaded-by-svilen001.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2478\" title=\"No_uploaded by svilen001\" src=\"http:\/\/inspiredeconom.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/No_uploaded-by-svilen001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve blogged a number of times about the benefits of purchasing paper that uses an environmental certification like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fsc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forest Stewardship Council<\/a> (FSC) or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfiprogram.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sustainable Forestry Initiative<\/a> (SFI).<\/p>\n<p>But has <em><strong>not<\/strong><\/em> using one of these certifications become a negative differentiator? Can it get you kicked out of the running?<\/p>\n<p>I just read a post on one of the LinkedIn boards that tells me, yes, it&#8217;s happening. Listen to this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>My brother-in-law had his business card (and his presentation) rejected by a client because it was not printed on FSC paper: forget the fact that he had a viable solution to sell. Appearances ruled. We can debate whether that was a knee-jerk, politically correct reaction or whether the client wanted the supplier to walk the talk on environmental awareness. There is a lot of validity on both sides of the argument.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow! Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
