{"id":3678,"date":"2010-08-25T14:36:05","date_gmt":"2010-08-25T21:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ietransfer.wpengine.com\/?p=3678"},"modified":"2010-08-25T14:36:05","modified_gmt":"2010-08-25T21:36:05","slug":"bayer-ing-it-all-how-bayer-reports-on-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inspiredeconomist.com\/articles\/bayer-ing-it-all-how-bayer-reports-on-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Bayer-ing&#8221; It All &#8211; How Bayer Reports on Sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/inspiredeconom.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/values.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3687 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/inspiredeconom.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/values.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The words &#8220;pharmaceutical company,&#8221; &#8220;sustainability&#8221; and &#8220;Corporate Social Responsibility&#8221; rarely go hand in hand, but a global Pharmaceutical Company boasting local impact in the Pittsburgh region might just be what the Doctor ordered.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainability2009.bayer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bayer<\/a> recently released it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainability2009.bayer.com\/en\/Sustainable-Development-Report-2009.pdfx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2009 Sustainability Report<\/a> and with it some lofty goals for Bayer&#8217;s operations in the Pittsburgh region, among them\u00a0a 20% improvement in energy efficiency by 2012\u00a0in Bayer&#8217;s Pittsburgh-based business center as part of it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stockholders-newsletter-q2-09.bayer.com\/en\/Green-IT.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Green IT Initiative&#8221;<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainability2009.bayer.com\/en\/Sustainable-Development-Report-2009.pdfx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Wellness Works&#8221;<\/a> 2010 pilot program to help identify health risks and promote a healthy lifestyle for Bayer employees and their families in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond local initiatives, Bayer has made it clear that globally they are committed to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainability2009.bayer.com\/en\/Sustainable-Development-Report-2009.pdfx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Protection<\/a> as its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climate.bayer.com\/en\/homepage.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Program<\/a> is highlighted in\u00a0one of the Focus Issues\u00a0in the\u00a02009\u00a0Sustainability Report, as well as Corporate Social Responsibility which includes around 300 projects worldwide and numerous sponsorship activities by their two foundations.<\/p>\n<p>What impressed me was the transparency with which Bayer reported on its negative news as well as its successes throughout the year in its 124-page report.\u00a0 From detailed information on worldwide lawsuits to their position and performance on Human Rights, Bayer has set a\u00a0 high standard for transparency.\u00a0 Perhaps\u00a0that is why Bayer can boast a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bayer.com\/en\/awards.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> long list of\u00a0awards, ratings and rankings <\/a>on its site.<\/p>\n<p><em>Image Credit:\u00a0 Bayer AG Copyright \u00a9 Bayer Corporation<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The words &#8220;pharmaceutical company,&#8221; &#8220;sustainability&#8221; and &#8220;Corporate Social Responsibility&#8221; rarely go hand in hand, but a global Pharmaceutical Company boasting local impact in the Pittsburgh region might just be what the Doctor ordered.
