Have you checked out the new ad from Apple highlighting their green features? After Greenpeace ranked Apple as the worst technology company in terms of environmental issues, Apple has worked to clean up their act. The new Mac notebooks are their answer.

The company touts the devices as “the world’s greenest family of notebooks,” due to the combination of recyclable materials, efficient power consumption and lack of hazardous chemicals. Steve Jobs issued a summary letter shortly after the new MacBook debut, outlining the company’s environmental efforts. The statement reiterated the promised to remove PVC and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from all hardware by the end of 2008.

Will it make a difference in sales for Apple this holiday season? Joe Wilcox at Apple Watch doesn’t think so:

Last week, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster made big predictions for Apple’s holiday quarter. Wall Street had expected 2.6 million Macs, based on analyst consensus; Gene expects Apple to ship as many as 2.7 million Macs. Consensus had Apple selling 18.6 million iPods, with Gene predicting 18.5 million to 19 million. On Macs, I think Gene’s and the Street’s expectations are high.

I don’t share Wall Street analysts’ enthusiasm for Apple holiday sales. Simply stated: Macs are priced too high.

And besides…is it really that green to run out and buy the latest new computer every 2 years. Moore’s Law is, inherently not environmentally friendly!
