Björk’s New Album: Venture Capital Fund for Green Energy

Icelandic star — and part time swan — Björk is using her celebrity to jump start a venture capital fund focused on women, and the environment.

Audur Capital which launched the fund has 17 employees – 15 of them are women. I kinda feel sexist pointing that out. I don’t know why.

The company plans to invest $832K into the fund. Ventures will include sustainable businesses that leverage Iceland’s natural resources, culture and green energy.

“We believe in the future potential of women and socially responsible businesses and we simply reject the view that it is either about financial returns or social benefit,” the company said.

“It’s a great honour to have (the fund) named after me,” Bjork told Icelandic daily Morgunbladid. I’m sure it is you crazy swan.

“The fund is intended for investors seeking investment opportunities in new venture creation and business development of small companies with the objective of fuelling the recovery of the Icelandic economy,” the company said in a statement.

Audur hopes the fund will have close to $17 million and that companies may start applying for grants next year.

    Nothing more than another plea for attention from this narcissistic psychopath. One of the worst vocalists ever, gratuitous acrobatics and way-overdone grandstanding, not a genuine note anywhere in there. i look forward to her vanishing from the public eye someday.

    There is nothing in our recent history that shows those in the financial sector are somehow better qualified to identify investments, or manage funds, (thank-you Mr. Madoff). On the other hand, creatives are known for identifying and establishing cultural trends. I would not be surprised if this fund succeeded, and broke ground, as never before. Congratulations Bjork!
