Corporate Responsibility Magazine recently released its 12th annual “100 Best Corporate Citizens List,” according to CSRwire.com’s press release. The list takes into account performance in seven key areas: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial and governance. See which US companies are leading the pack in corporate citizenship:
- Johnson Controls Inc.
- Campbell Soup Co.
- International Business Machines Corp.
- Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.
- Mattel, Inc.
- 3M Co.
- Accenture plc
- Kimberly-Clark Corp.
- Hewlett-Packard Co.
- Nike, Inc.
It is interesting that in the weighting of the seven data categories that measure corporate citizenship, financial performance accounts for only 12.5% of the rating. This puts financial issues ahead of governance (9%) and philanthropy (7%) only, while environment and climate change represent 36% between them, employee relations represent 19.5% and human rights 16%.
The full methodology procedures and details are available via the Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO.com) press release.
