Waste Management, Inc. recently announced that it has acquired the LampTracker business, the nation’s first provider of mail-back recycling for fluorescent lighting, from shareholders of Mercury Waste Solutions, LLC. This business, which will be operated through Waste Management’s WM LampTracker subsidiary, will provide collection and safe recycling of fluorescent bulbs using integrated on-line tracking capability and a unique shipping container design. WM LampTracker allows commercial and industrial customers to recycle fluorescent bulbs, which contain mercury, thereby improving employee health and safety, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. It is a total-care approach to storage, handling, transport and recycling of fluorescent lamps. WM LampTracker offers the exclusive VaporLok foil bag that has been specially engineered and custom-manufactured to safely contain residual mercury vapors during the storage and transportation of fluorescent bulbs. In addition, the one-of-a-kind tracking system not only offers on-line convenience but also integrates with major shippers’ tracking systems.
