Proctor & Gamble’s Pantene brand is launching its first global, cause-marketing effort with its Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program. The company will provide PUR packets that transform contaminated water into clean, drinkable water. Pantene will also support CSDW with a “Healthy Hair for Healthy Water” campaign with spokesperson-model Gisele Bundchen of Brazil and singer-songwrier Anggun of Indonesia. And Pantene’s goal to “save one life every hour” in the developing world includes action through P&G’s eStore, where for each bottle purchased, the company will donate 10 cents to CSDW.

Xavier Institute of Management hosted a CSR summit last week at that B-school’s campus in east India on the theme of “The Environment and Waste Management.” A special topic was a vegetable waste-based biogas plant that is three times more efficient than the standard biogas plant. The Institute incorporates CSR culture into every aspect of its business school curriculum, requiring a compulsory CSR group project in its students’ first year.
